Kurt Halverstadt- Managing Director

As managing director and investment officer, Kurt specializes in providing professional investment management and estate planning to a select group of clientele, including closely held business owners and high net-worth individuals.

Prior to taking the firm independent in September 2009, Kurt served as a senior partner of The Sullivan Group during its previous affiliations with Morgan Stanley and Wachovia Securities. He was responsible for integrating new clients into the group and facilitating strategic alliances with local attorneys and CPAs. A Sacramento native, Kurt earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration/Finance from California State University, Sacramento.

He volunteers his time as an ad-hoc member of several investment/venture boards and serves as an advisor to a number of local businesses. Kurt has been involved in financing and merger/acquisition activity for several companies headquartered in the greater Sacramento area.

Kurt lives in Granite Bay with his wife, Laura, and their four children and works out of the Roseville, California office.

C.Jay joined The Sullivan Group in 2014 as an Investment Advisor. His goal is to blaze the path for The Sullivan Group to thrive in the 21st century. He is interested both in inter-generational wealth transfers and gaining a solid clientele from among the next generation.

Before joining TSG, C.Jay was the legal and contract manager at the Northern CA business and management consulting firm, Elyon Enterprise Strategies.  He was responsible for handling the legal and compliance affairs of the young startup, which has now expanded it’s practices into the greater western United States.  C.Jay remains involved with the business as a partial owner.

C.Jay was born and raised in the Placer County area and earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Public Policy, with a concentration in Economic Theory, from William Jessup University.  His dissertation, which was on the history and impact of the Federal Reserve, is what sparked his interest in a career in investments and financial planning. He also writes the Mises Institute’s FedWatch column and also his own economic blog, The Austrian View.

C.Jay currently lives in Loomis with his wife and daughter and operates out of the Roseville, California office.
